Andrew C. Thompson
Andrew is originally from Paragould, Arkansas, where he was born and raised. Before becoming the senior pastor at First Church in July of 2015, Andrew served in a variety of ministry settings: as a campus minister, an associate pastor on two large church staffs, a solo pastor in a rural setting, and a seminary professor. He is married to Emily, and together they have three children. Andrew is passionate about preaching, teaching, and small group discipleship formation. He believes that a local congregation should serve a three-fold purpose: as a community of faithful worship, as a community of deep spiritual formation, and as a community of focused mission.
In addition to his preaching and teaching ministry at First Church, Andrew also writes for a number of print and online publications. His most recent book is The Means of Grace (Seedbed, 2015), which explores Wesleyan spiritual practices and is useful for both individual and small group study.
When he’s not trying to keep up with his kids, Andrew enjoys reading, writing, hiking, and generally enjoying the outdoors. You can follow him on Twitter @andrew72450 or on his personal website at www.andrewthompson.com
