The Great Commission

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” –Matthew 28: 19-20

First United Methodist Church, Springdale seeks to live out the Great Commission through our mission of connecting people to God and one another.  We envision a disciple of Jesus Christ as someone who is connected to God and others.  We believe our community of faith is a training ground to make these connections.  We do not hold the expectation that every person be a perfect disciple but that we are leading and supporting one another on our journeys to strong discipleship connections.

First Contacts

These are opportunities for those new to or exploring First Church or the Christian faith to connect with people, and learn about being a connected disciple.

Lunch with the Staff – These luncheons are offered every other month on Sunday afternoons following worship (12:00 p.m.) for people to get to know the pastors and staff of First Church, learn about getting connected to our ministries, and the commitment of membership.

Meet with a Pastor – Those ready to take the step of discipleship of becoming a member of First Church are invited to meet individually or as a family with a pastor.  These informal meetings are to get to know more about you and how First Church can best support your journey of connecting.

Exploring the Christian Faith – This three week class is for people who want to learn more about the basics of Christianity, our beliefs and practices, and how to make deeper connections with Jesus.
